AN NGO ORGANISES PRAYER SESSION ON THE HAPPENING IN NIGERIA

In a bid to seek for Allah’s protection and guidance on the current situation in Nigeria, an NGO “Northern Initiative for Promotion of ideal Renaissance and Values NIPFOIRAV,” has organised a one day prayer session in Kaduna.

The prayer session was attended by members of the Izala and Tjjaniyya sects.

In an opening remarks, the Chief Imam of Danfodio Juma’at Mosque Unguwar Sanusi, Sheikh Abdullahi Rabi’u Daura, described the prayer meeting as apt towards promoting peace and unity of the people.

He described the present high cost of living in the country as well as heightened problems of insecurity.

Sheikh Abdullahi Daura urged muslims not to relent in ceaseless prayers for peace, unity and progress of the country.

In a remark at the prayer session, a lecturer with the Kaduna State University KASU, Professor Abdullahi Nuhu commended the organisers of the prayers, saying it come at the appreciate time.

He expressed concern over the high increase of out of school children especially in Northern part of Nigeria, stressing that the problem is posing serious threat to societal peace and progress.

Speaking at the occasion a Kaduna based Tijjaniyya cleric, Sheikh Halliru Maraya said the high level of insecurity especially in this part of the nation calls for Allah’s intervention.

He cautioned muslims against committing sins and other irreligious acts which according to him are the root causes of the present calamities befallen Nigeria.

Sheikh Maraya explained that currently about thirty three million Nigerians are in object poverty, hence the need for Allah’s mercy.

He noted that most Northern governors cannot afford to provide social amenities to their people, especially clean and potable water, good health care delivery and other basic necessities of life.

Another Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Sanusi Kutama who represented Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, prayed for everlasting peace, and corporate existence of Nigeria.

He implored muslims to embrace skills acquisition activities for self dependence and upliftment.

In his contribution, Architect Hassan Uba Ahmad charged the two Chambers of the National Assembly to take proactive measures to address the current insecurity bedeviling the nation.

He also appealed to government to effectively address the problems of galloping inflation in the country, to provide succour to people.

In her speech the National Director Women and Social Development of NIPFOIRAV Hajiya Hajara Umar pointed out that the aim of the prayer session was to seek for Allah’s mercy and protection on the happenings in the country.

She expressed confidence that the prayers would bring to an end the current problems.
