Provision Of Security: CEDDERT IS TO PARTNER WITH TRADITIONAL INSTITUTIONS TOWARDS COMMUNITIES PARTICIPATION ACROSS ZAZZAU EMIRATE

A non govermental organisation Center for Democratic development research training CEDDERT is to partner with traditional institutions to sensitizing them on the need for communities to participate in the provision of security across zazzau emirate.

Director general of the center, professor Abubakar SADIQ disclosed this during a
sensitization workshop to traditional rulers in zazzau emirate held in Zaria.

Professor Abubakar SADIQ in a paper presented, tittle the role and responsibility of traditional rulers a wake up call, pointed out that traditional rulers should be given constitutional roles to enable them contribute their quota in the security of their communities.

He called on the participants to extend the knowledge they have acquired to their subjects to stop recruitment of teenagers into banditry activities due to its implications and illegal financial benefit.

Also in his presentation one of the director of the center professor mustafa Umar Gwadabe noted that the center conducted a research at Birnin Gwari in Kaduna state, Zamfara and Katsina which revealed that youth have been recruited into kidnapping, banditry activities by enticing them with money and drugs.

In his speech the chairman of the ocassion the wazirin zazzau ALHAJI Muhammad inuwa Aminu called on district head and village head to organize similar workshops within their localities to achieve desired aim.

Narrating the scenario of banditry and kidnapping activities in his area kaigaman zazzau district head of kidandam, Alhaji Nuhu umar said for over seven years ninety percent of scholars’ children in the area are out of school due to disengagement of teachers by nasiru El-rufai administration and those that are posted are not reporting to their duties due to insecurity.

The kaigaman zazzau said thousands of hecters of farm land could not be cultivated as no body want to go to his farm and many communities have left their houses as a result of insecurity

The workshops was attended by security operatives National Drug law Enforcement agency NDLEA and Nigeria security and civil Defence Corps NSDS presented a paper during the workshops.
