Residents Zaria city and it’s environs have decried the inability of Zaria local government council to evacuate refuse at dump areas.
Our correspondent in Zaria reports that the isolated refuse dumps areas are filled and not evacuated .
Areas like Buban Dodo round about, Zaria city market ,kusfa, kofar Doka and Tudun wada areas among others are examples of the inability of authority concerned to evacuate the refuse.
A residents mal Abubakar Sulaiman expressed sadness over the inability of authority to evacuate the refuse.
He stressed the need for Zaria local government council to provide emergency teams to clean up the environment to prevent the outbreak of communicable disease in the society.
Also Alhaji SHEHU Umar called on residents to imbibe the culture of providing waste bin to dispose their disposable before the authority concerned evacuate them.
When contacted the secretary Zaria local government and council coordinator on environment abdullahi SANI explained that the issue of road cleaners and refuse evacuation is been taken care by the state government and a private company.
Abdullahi Sani added that the council would recruit adhoc workers to evacuate the refuse across the local government areas.
investigation revealed that efforts is under way to transfer the work of cleaners and dump evacuation to Zaria Metropolitan area .
in another development the contractor handling the cleaning of roads and refuse evacuation had stopped following the expiration of their contract in the area.
