FARMERS ADVISED ON PROPER PLANTING

As the rainy season is about to commence, Nigerian farmers have been advised to avoid rushing to cultivate the land.

The Deputy Director and Kaduna State Coordinator Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Services, Dr Timkat Nanfa Vontau gave the advice while fielding questions from Journalists.

He described as un-professional and unwise for farmers at this material time to rush and start planting in anticipation of the commencement of the wet season.

According to him the rainy season has not yet commenced in earnest, hence the need for the farmers to be cautious before embarking on soil cultivation to avoid incurring loss.

He said inview of its commitment to revolutionize agriculture the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tunubu has declared a state of emergency on the sector to get the needed results.

Dr Timkat Vontau stated that already the government has provided enabling environment for farmers to actively carry out their activities.

He therefore advised them to adhere strictly to advice from agricultural experts to achieve success.

According to him the Federal Ministry of Agriculture had gone far in its planning for this wet season in the country.

Dr Timkat added that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture had equally put necessary machineries in place for the provision of agricultural inputs to farmers.
